REPORT

Examination:

·         Ultrasonography of the thyroid gland/neck.

Findings:

-          The study revealed evidence of right hemithyroidectomy. There is mild diffuse enlargement of left  lobe of the thyroid gland with a large nodular  lesion with cystic components in the middle part of left lobe measuring approx; 2.1X 1.5 cm in size. Other small nodules with areas of cystic degeneration noted in the antero-superior aspect of left lobe. No calcification noted in relation to these cysts. Isthmus normal. Doppler study show no increased vascularity.

-          Apparently normal caliber and contour of the trachea.

-          Normal vascular bundles in both sides of the neck.

CONCLUSION:

·        Status post right hemithyroidectomy.

·        Multiple nodules with cystic degeneration  in the left lobe of thyroid.
