Study

Duplex Doppler sonography of the carotid system bilaterally

USG Study No.

                                                US12US12

REPORT

-         The study revealed patent common-internal carotid axes bilaterally. Diffuse intimal thickening noted bilaterally. Calcified atheromatous plaque seen in the left CCA bifurcation with no significant stenosis. There is normal flow to the ICA.  No significant stenosis or occlusion noted on both sides.

-          Meassured RI are within normal range.

CONCLUSION:

·        Mild diffuse intimal thickening bilaterally suggestive of atherosclerotic changes.

·        Calcified atheromatous plaque in the left CCA bifurcation with no significant stenosis.

DUPPLEX DOPPLER U/S OF THE ARTERIAL  SYSTEM OF BOTH  LOWER LIMBS, REVEALED:

-         There is diffuse wall thickening of the whole of the arterial system with areas of intimal calcification and multiple stenotic segments more involving on left side. There is  biphsic flow in the major vessels with resistive index of 1. There are narrow segments in the SFA, popliteal and tibial arteries bilaterally, the highest on right side measuring 63% in the distal SFA and on left side 78% in the distal SFA. No evidence of complete occlusion noted.  There is low resistance distal flow to the distal vessels.

CONCLUSION:

·        Diffuse arterial wall thickening suggestive of atherosclerotic changes.

·        Multiple stenotic segments in the SFA, popliteal and tibial arteries bilaterally.

·        No evidence of  complete occlusion noted.

DUPPLEX DOPPLER U/S OF THE ARTERIAL  SYSTEM OF RIGHT  LOWER LIMB, REVEALED:

-         There is diffuse wall thickening of the common and superficial femoral arteries  with areas of intimal calcification and multiple stenotic segments. Evidence of femoro-popliteal bypass graft noted with normal flow in the graft and distal arteries. No evidence of occlusion of the graft noted.  There is normal flow to the distal vessels incuding dorsalis peidis arteries.

CONCLUSION:

·        Normally functioning femoro popliteal bypass graft.

DUPPLEX DOPPLER U/S OF THE ARTERIAL  SYSTEM OF BOTH  LOWER LIMBS, REVEALED:

-         There is diffuse wall thickening of the whole of the arterial system with areas of intimal calcification and multiple stenotic segments. There is  alteration in flow pattern which gives biphasic flow in all the vessels with high resistive indices. There are narrow segments in the CFA, SFA and tibial arteries  on both sides the highest measuring 86% on right side and 84 % on left side. No evidence of complete occlusion noted.  There is low resistance flow to the distal vessels incuding dorsalis peidis arteries.

CONCLUSION:

·        Diffuse arterial wall thickening suggestive of atherosclerotic changes.

·        Multiple stenotic segments in the arteries.

·        No evidence of  complete occlusion noted.
