REPORT

Examination:

·         Ultrasonography of the thyroid gland & Neck

Findings:

-          The study revealed diffuse enlargement of right lobe of the thyroid gland with a solid nodular  lesion in the middle part of right lobe measuring approx; 2.1X 1.2 cm in size. No areas of cystic degeneration or  calcification noted. Rest of the parenchyma appears normal. Isthmus and left lobe normal. Doppler study show no increased vascularity.

-          Normal vascular bundles in both sides of the neck..

-          There is a hypoechoic lesion with distal acoustic enhancement in the submental region which measures 2.8X2.3X2 cm in size. No increased vascularity noted within. This lesion is separately visualized from the thyroid gland.

CONCLUSION:

§  Hypoechoic lesion with distal acoustic enhancement in the submental region. ?Complicated thyroglossal cyst

§  Solid nodule in the right lobe of thyroid gland.

-         Normal sonographic features of the left breast parenchyma. No evidence of focal solid or cystic lesion seen. No calcification noted. The visualized retromammary and sub-cutaneous tissue appears normal. Axillary tail normal.

-         There is an ill defined hypoechoic mass lesion in the medial aspect of right anterior chest wall in the location of previous mastectomy which measures 19X8 mm in size. No cystic areas, calcification or increased vasularity noted in relation to this lesion.

CONCLUSION:

·        Unremarkable U/S study of  the left breast parenchyma..

·        Ill defined hypoechoic mass lesion in the medial aspect of right anterior chest wall. ?Recurrence. Suggested histopathological correlation.

-          The liver show mild enlargement with diffuse increase in echotexture suggestive of fatty infiltration.. No focal  hepatic lesions could be identified, normal caliber of the portal vein, CBD and hepatic veins, no intrahepatic biliary dilatation seen.

-          The gall bladder show multiple  calculi in the lumen the largest of which measuring 7 mm in size. No wall thickening or pericholecystic collection.

-          Pancreas appeared normal in size and shape. No focal lesions seen. Normal sonographic criteria of the spleen.  No ascites is seen.

-          Normal size, site, and shape of the kidneys, with normal echopattern, no definite stones could be seen, nor hydronephrosis. Intact cortico-medullary ratio. There are two cystic lesions  in the mid posterior aspect of right kidney largest of which measuring 4.5X4.1cm in size. No internal echoes or septations noted within this cyst. Ureters-Not dilated. Normal sonogram of the urinary bladder.

-          Prostate- Show enlargement(60 gm). Normal in echotexture..

CONCLUSION:

·         Prostatomegaly. ?BPH.

·        Right renal parenchymal cysts.

·        Fatty infiltration of liver.

·        Gall bladder calculi.
