Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzgral.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Abdomen.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O abdominal distention with anorexia and vomiting (Off and on).
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the abdomen was performed using the following parameters:
5.5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted axial images through the liver.
MRV (for the inferior vena cava and hepatic veins) was performed using 2D TOF and 3D PC technique.
OBSERVATION :
The liver shows a slightly lobulated contour. Ill-defined hypointense areas on the T1 Weighted images which turn slightly hyperintense on the T2 Weighted images are noted within both hepatic lobes.
There is evidence of ascitis. The spleen is mildly enlarged. The gall bladder is unremarkable.
The inferior vena cava is visualized in its entirety and shows normal flow signal. The hepatic veins are not visualized on the MRV. The portal system is unremarkable.
IMPRESSION :
The MRI features are suggestive of areas of signal alteration within the liver as described (? early cirrhosis). The hepatic veins are not visualized on the MRV and the inferior vena cava per se is unremarkable. Mild to moderate ascites is noted.
