Name of the Patient : Abc Xyz Plmn / F / 38 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzah.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Dorso-lumbar Spine.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O backache with paresthesias in BLE since 7-8 months.
Alleged H/O fall with injury to back prior to this.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the dorso-lumbar spine was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted axial images.
OBSERVATION :
The L5 vertebra is sacralized and the D11 body is marked on the film.
There is collapse with anterior wedging of the D12 vertebral body. A Schmorls node is noted at its superior aspect. This vertebral body shows areas of fatty replacement of normal marrow.
Posterior peridiscal osteophytes are noted at the D11-D12 level.
Mild posterior disc bulges with small peridiscal osteophytes are noted at the L3-L4 and L4-L5 levels.
There is facetal hypertrophy at the L4-L5 level.
The visualized dorso-lumbar intervertebral discs show loss of water content.
>
The remaining visualized dorso-lumbar vertebral bodies reveal normal signal intensity. The rest of the facet joints and the visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.
The visualized lower dorsal spinal cord reveals normal signal intensity.
The conus medullaris terminates at the L1 level.
IMPRESSION :
The MRI features are suggestive of a compression fracture of the D12 vertebral body which is most likely post-traumatic in etiology.
