Name of the Patient : Abc Xylmn / M / 42 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyztil.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Brain.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O headaches (in the occipital region), giddiness, vertigo and syncopal attacks.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the brain was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted, proton and T2 Weighted axial images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted sagittal images.
5 mm thick FLAIR coronal images.
MR Cisternogram was obtained in the coronal plane.
OBSERVATION :
There is a small bright focus on the proton, T2 Weighted and FLAIR images in the subcortical white matter in the right posterior parietal region. This lesion is near isointense to white matter on the T1 Weighted images and most likely represents an ischemic focus.
There are small areas of subtle hyperintensity on the Flair images within both cerebellar hemispheres, peripherally. These may represent areas of ischemia/gliosis (se/im:105/7 - 105/9).
The seventh and eighth cranial nerve complex on either side are unremarkable. There is mild prominence of the cerebellar folia bilaterally.
Both the lateral, third and the fourth ventricles are normal. A mega cisterna magna is noted. The rest of the basal cisternal spaces are unremarkable. There is no shift of the midline structures. No obvious vascular anomaly is identified on this study.
IMPRESSION :
1. Altered signal in the subcortical white matter in the right posterior parietal region most likely represents an ischemic focus.
2. Subtle areas of altered signal intensity within both cerebellar hemispheres, peripherally may represent areas of ischemia/gliosis
3. A mega cisterna magna.
