Name of the Patient : Abc Xyz Ralmn / M / 25 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzah.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Brain.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O seizures on 24th and 25th December 0000.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the brain was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted, proton and T2 Weighted axial images.
3 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted coronal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted sagittal images.
OBSERVATION :
There is a well-defined, subcentimeter lesion in the left temporal lobe (se/im:101/2, 106/7, 104/6). This lesion is seen to follow CSF signal intensity characteristics on all the pulse sequences. An eccentric hyperintense speck is noted within this lesion on the T1 Weighted images which would represent a scolex. There is surrounding white matter edema with slight effacement of the adjacent sulci.
Both the lateral, third and the fourth ventricles are normal. The basal cisternal spaces are unremarkable. There is no shift of the midline structures. No obvious vascular anomaly is identified on this study.
Incidental note is made of right maxillary sinusitis and inflammatory changes in the right ethmoidal air cells.
IMPRESSION :
The MRI features are suggestive of a granulomatous infective lesion in the left temporal lobe following the signal characteristics of a cysticercus in the colloid vesicular stage.
