Name of the Patient : Abc Xyzant Salmn / M / 70 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzatt / Dr. Abc Xyzporia.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Brain.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O memory impairment.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the brain was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted, proton and T2 Weighted axial images.
5 mm thick FLAIR coronal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted sagittal images.
OBSERVATION :
There are areas of hyperintensity on the proton, T2 Weighted and Flair images within the periatrial white matter bilaterally. These are iso to hypointense to white matter on the T1 Weighted images and are most likely ischemic in etiology.
Smaller areas with similar signal characteristics are noted within the white matter in the frontal lobes bilaterally.
There is prominence of the basal cisternal spaces, cerebral cortical sulci and Sylvian fissures bilaterally.
There is mild prominence of the cerebellar folia bilaterally.
There is fullness of the third and both the lateral ventricles.
The fourth ventricle is normal. There is no shift of the midline structures. No obvious vascular anomaly is identified on this study.
Inflammatory changes are noted in the mastoid air cells (right more than left), ethmoidal air cells, sphenoid sinus and both maxillary sinuses.
IMPRESSION :
1. Areas of altered signal within the periatrial white matter and within the white matter in the frontal lobes bilaterally are most probably ischemic in etiology.
2. Cerebral atrophy.
