Name of the Patient : Abc Xyz Mahlmn / M / 23 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzrekh.
Examination : M.R.I. of Both Hips.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O pain in the LLE with limp.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of both hips was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and STIR coronal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted (with fat saturation) axial images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted sagittal images.
OBSERVATION :
There is an irregularly marginated, (iso to hypointense when compared to normal marrow) lesion in the head of the left humerus. The bulk of this lesion appears hyperintense on the T2 Weighted and STIR images whereas some hypointense areas are also noted within this lesion. This lesion is demarcated from the femoral head by a hypointense rim on all the pulse sequences. Perilesional edema is noted in the neck of the left femur. The left femoral head shows a slightly irregular contour. Minimal fluid is noted in the left hip joint. Diffuse hyperintense signal on the T2 Weighted and STIR images is noted in the ischial component of the left acetabulum.
There is seen an irregularly marginated, fat signal intensity lesion on all the pulse sequences in the head of the right femur. This lesion is demarcated from the normal marrow by a hypointense rim on all the pulse sequences. There is no perilesional edema. The contour of the right femoral head and right acetabulum are unremarkable. There is no right hip joint effusion.
IMPRESSION :
1. Class A and Class B avascular necrosis of the left femoral head with edema in the neck of the left femur and a small left hip joint effusion.
2. Class A avascular necrosis of the right femoral head.
