Name of the Patient : Abc XyzSlmn / F / 52 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzlkaka.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Dorsal Spine.

CLINICAL PROFILE :

C/O backache with vomiting since 0000 (on & off) which has increased since 1 1/2 months.

EXAMINATION :

M.R.I of the dorsal spine was performed using the following parameters :

4 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.

5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted axial images.

OBSERVATION :

There is loss of water content of the dorsal intervertebral discs.

The visualized dorsal vertebral bodies reveal normal signal intensity. The facet joints and the visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.

The visualized dorsal spinal cord reveals normal signal intensity.

The conus medullaris terminates at the D12-L1 level.

The lumbar spine was screened with 5 mm thick T1 Weighted sagittal images and 5 mm thick T1 Weighted axial images. A small postero-central disc protrusion and bilateral far lateral disc bulges are noted at the L5-S1 level.

A posteriorly herniated disc is noted at the L4-L5 level with bilateral neural foraminal narrowing. There is also slight facetal and ligamentum flavum hypertrophy and resultant canal stenosis at this level.

Left and right postero-lateral disc herniations are noted at the L3-L4 level with bilateral neural foraminal narrowing.

Anterior disc herniations are noted at the L2-L3, L3-L4 and L4-L5 levels. Hyperintense signal on the T1 Weighted images in the L3 vertebra is not specific for a single etiology. Further evaluation would be worthwhile.

IMPRESSION :

1. No significant abnormality is detected on the dorsal spine study.

2. A small postero-central disc protrusion and bilateral far lateral disc bulges at the L5-S1 level.

3. A posteriorly herniated disc at the L4-L5 level with bilateral neural foraminal narrowing. There is also slight facetal and ligamentum flavum hypertrophy and resultant canal stenosis at this level.

3. Left and right postero-lateral disc herniations at the L3-L4 level with bilateral neural foraminal narrowing.
