Examination : M.R.I. of the Brain.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O neurocysticercus detected in September 0000.
For follow up.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the brain was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted, proton and T2 Weighted axial images.
5 mm thick FLAIR coronal images.
3 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted coronal images through the region of interest.
OBSERVATION :
There is a seen a very small, approximately 4.0 mm diameter sized well-marginated hypointense lesion, best appreciated on the T2 Weighted coronal images in the left high frontal region (scans 106.9-10). This lesion appears iso to slightly hypointense to normal white matter on the T1 Weighted images. Minimal perilesional white matter hyperintense signal on proton, T2 Weighted and FLAIR images is noted. A smaller, hypointense speck on T2 Weighted images is noted lateral to the above described lesion (scans 106.9).
There is mild fullness of both the lateral and the third ventricles. The fourth ventricle is normal. The basal cisternal spaces are unremarkable. There is no shift of the midline structures. No obvious vascular anomaly is identified on this study.
IMPRESSION :
Two, very small, lesions in the left high frontal region with signal characteristics as described most likely represent calcified granulomas. Perilesional white matter altered signal may represent residual edema/gliotic changes.
As compared to the previous MRI (Study no.00004) dated 00.00.00, there is decrease in the size of the perilesional edema.
