Name of the Patient : Abc Xyz Slmn / M / 50 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzvat.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Cervical Spine.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O radicular pain in the LUE with tingling and wasting.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I. of the cervical spine was performed using the following parameters :
4 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted, T2 Weighted and Fast Scan (T2 *) axial images.
OBSERVATION :
There is loss of water content of the cervical intervertebral discs.
There are small postero-central disc herniations with peridiscal osteophytes at the C3-C4, C4-C5, C5-C6 and C6-C7 levels indenting the cervical spinal cord, anteriorly.
Small postero-central protruded disc is noted at the C2-C3 level.
Degenerative changes of the joints of Luschka are noted at the C3-C4 and C4-C5 levels bilaterally.
The spinal cord at the C4-C5 level on the right shows a focal hyperintense signal on the T2 Weighted and Fast Scan (T2 *) images. This signal appears nearly isointense to the normal cord on the T1 Weighted images. Slight decrease in the calibre of the cervical spinal cord at the C4 and C4-C5 levels is noted.
Slight ligamentum flavum hypertrophy is noted in the upper cervical region and slight facetal hypertrophy at the C4-C5 and C5-C6 levels.
The cervical vertebral bodies show fatty marrow changes. The C6 vertebra is reduced in height. The visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.
The atlanto-axial region and the cervico-medullary junction are unremarkable.
IMPRESSION :
1. Small postero-central disc herniations with peridiscal osteophytes at the C3-C4, C4-C5, C5-C6 and C6-C7 levels indenting the cervical spinal cord, anteriorly.
2. Small postero-central protruded discs at the C2-C3 level.
3. Degenerative changes of the joints of Luschka at the C3-C4 and C4-C5 levels bilaterally.
4. Focal altered signal in the cervical spinal cord on the right at the C4-C5 level may represent cord edema/ischemia/myelomalacia. Slight decrease in the calibre of the cervical spinal cord at the C4 and C4-C5 levels is noted.
