Examination : M.R.I. of the Right Ankle & Foot.

CLINICAL PROFILE :

C/O pain and swelling over the right ankle region since 4 months.

EXAMINATION :

M.R.I. of the right ankle and foot was performed using the following parameters :

4 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted (with fat saturation) axial images.

4 mm thick T1 Weighted and STIR coronal images.

4 mm thick T1 Weighted and GRASS (with fat saturation) sagittal images.

OBSERVATION :

Hypointense areas in the talus just below the right ankle joint on the T1 Weighted images which are seen to turn hyperintense on the T2 Weighted, STIR and GRASS images.

Minimal fluid is seen within the right ankle joint

Hyperintense areas on the T2 Weighted, STIR and GRASS images in the subcutaneous region around the right ankle joint would represent inflammatory edema.

There is a suggestion of small prominent vascular spaces in the calcaneum and the cuboid bones.
Scan-00002

The visualized tendons and ligament show normal signal intensity.

IMPRESSION :

1. Altered signal in the talus just below the right ankle joint probably represent degenerative changes.

2. Altered signal in the subcutaneous region around the right ankle joint would represent inflammatory edema.
