Name of the Patient : Abc Xyza Plmn / F / 41 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc XyzHashim.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Lumbo-sacral Spine.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O low back pain with radiation of pain to BLE.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the lumbo-sacral spine was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted axial images.
OBSERVATION :
There is slight loss of water content of the L2-L3 and L3-L4 intervertebral discs.
A small, postero-central protruded disc is noted at the L5-S1 level, with slight facetal hypertrophy at that level.
There is a small, posterior and right postero-lateral disc herniation with peridiscal osteophyte at the L4-L5 level with right neural foraminal narrowing. Slight facetal and ligamentum flavum hypertrophy is also noted with a tight canal at that level.
A small posterior disc bulge is seen at the L1-L2 level.
Slight facetal hypertrophy is noted at the D10-D11 level on the right.
The lumbar vertebral bodies show spotty fatty marrow changes. The remaining intervertebral discs reveal normal signal intensity. The rest of the facet joints and the visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.
The conus medullaris terminates at the L1 level and the thecal sac terminates at the S1 level.
The antero-posterior dimensions of the lumbar canal at the level of the intervertebral discs are as follows :
16.0 mm at L1-L2
15.0 mm at L2-L3
14.0 mm at L3-L4
10.0 mm at L4-L5
13.0 mm at L5-S1.
The visualized lower dorsal spinal cord appears smaller in calibre with normal signal intensity.
IMPRESSION :
1. Small posterior and right postero-lateral disc herniation with peridiscal osteophytes at the L4-L5 level, with facetal and ligamentum flavum hypertrophy and a tight canal at that level.
2. Slight facetal hypertrophy at the L5-S1 level and at the D10-D11 level on the right.
3. Decrease in calibre of the visualized lower dorsal spinal cord, without change in signal intensity.
