Name of the Patient : Abc XyzJ. lmn / M / 1 1/2 months.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzabhat.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Neck.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O breathlessness with low voice since birth.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the neck was performed using 4 mm thick T1 Weighted T2 Weighted (with fat saturation) axial images.
Images could not be obtained in the sagittal and coronal planes, as the patient was not co-operative inspite of sedation.
OBSERVATION :
There is seen an approximately 1.0 x 1.2 cms (in the transverse plane) sized well-defined, mass lesion on the T1 Weighted images in the paralaryngeal space on the left, extending from the level of the left vallecula upto the level of the cricoid cartilage. This lesion is slightly hyperintense to CSF on all pulse sequences. Resultant slight deformity of the epiglottis is noted with compression of the supraglottic and glottic regions of the larynx. The left sided strap muscles over the thyroid cartilage are displaced anteriorly by the lesion. The carotid space, the parapharyngeal and prevertebral spaces are unremarkable.
There are no abnormally enlarged lymphnodes in the neck on this scan.
IMPRESSION :An approximately 1.0 x 1.2 cms sized well-defined, mass lesion
in the paralaryngeal space on the left, extending from the level of the left vallecula upto the level of the cricoid cartilage as described most likely represents an external saccular cyst.
