Name of the Patient : Abc Xyzau Choudlmn / M / 42 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzhtekar.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Lumbo-sacral Spine.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O backache with pain radiating to BLE and numbness.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the lumbo-sacral spine was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted axial images.
OBSERVATION :
There are posterior disc herniations with peridiscal osteophytes at the L3-L4 and L4-L5 levels with anterior indentation the thecal sac and bilateral neural foraminal narrowing. Slight inferior migration of the discs is seen. Slight facetal hypertrophy is also noted at these levels. The L3-L4 intervertebral disc shows loss of water content.
Facetal hypertrophy is also noted at the L5-S1 level.
Hemangioma with fatty content is seen in the L3 and L1 vertebral bodies.
The rest of the lumbar vertebral bodies and the remaining intervertebral discs reveal normal signal intensity. The rest of the facet joints and the visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.
The conus medullaris terminates at the D12 level and the thecal sac terminates at the S2 level.
The antero-posterior dimensions of the lumbar canal at the level of the intervertebral discs are as follows :
15.0 mm at L1-L2
13.0 mm at L2-L3
11.0 mm at L3-L4
9.0 mm at L4-L5
10.0 mm at L5-S1.
IMPRESSION :
Posterior disc herniations with peridiscal osteophytes at the L3-L4 and L4-L5 levels with bilateral neural foraminal narrowing, slight facetal hypertrophy and a tight canal at these levels.
