Name of the Patient : Abc Xyza M. Dlmn / F / 66 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzdhia.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Cervical Spine.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O neckpain with pain radiating to BUE.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the cervical spine was performed using the following parameters :
4 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and Fast Scan (T2 *) axial images.
OBSERVATION :
The cervical intervertebral discs show loss of water content.
There is fusion of the odontoid process with the right aspect of the anterior arch and the right lateral mass of the C1 vertebra. These as well as the body of the C2 vertebra show areas of fatty replacement of normal marrow.
Posterior disc bulges with peridiscal osteophytes are seen to indent the thecal sac at the C4-C5 and C5-C6 levels.
The right C2-C3 facet joint shows hypertrophic degenerative changes.
The left joint of Luschka at the C4-C5 level shows degenerative changes with mild left neural foraminal narrowing.
The cervical vertebral bodies show normal signal intensity. The rest of the joints of Luschka and the visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.
..2/.
- 2 - Scan-00007
The cervical spinal cord reveals normal signal intensity.
The cervico-medullary junction is unremarkable.
Areas of encephalomalacia (iso to hyperintense to CSF) are seen in the inferior aspect of the right cerebellar hemisphere.
IMPRESSION :
The MRI features are suggestive of :
1. Fusion of the odontoid process with the right aspect of the anterior arch and the right lateral mass of the C1 vertebra and the body of the C2 vertebra with fatty changes as described. This may be the result of an old infective process.
2. Posterior disc bulges with peridiscal osteophytes at the C4-C5 and C5-C6 levels.
3. Hypertrophic facetal arthropathy at the C2-C3 level on the right.
4. Areas of encephalomalacia in the inferior aspect of the right cerebellar hemisphere.
