Name of the Patient : Abc Xyz S. Al-klmn / M / 62 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzni.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Lumbo-sacral Spine.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O backache with pain radiating to BLE with paresthesias.
Past H/O cervical spine surgery 6-7 months back.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the lumbo-sacral spine was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted axial images.
The cervical spine was screened with 4 mm thick T2 Weighted sagittal images.
OBSERVATION :
There are mild posterior disc bulges at the L1-L2, L4-L5 and L5-S1 levels.
The lumbar intervertebral discs show loss of water content.
Anterior disc herniations with peridiscal osteophytes are noted in the dorso-lumbar region.
The lumbar vertebral bodies reveal normal signal intensity. The facet joints and the visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.
The conus medullaris terminates at the L1 level and the thecal sac terminates at the S2 level.
Scan-00002
The antero-posterior dimensions of the lumbar canal at the level of the intervertebral discs are as follows :
18.0 mm at L1-L2
17.0 mm at L2-L3
18.0 mm at L3-L4
16.0 mm at L4-L5
12.0 mm at L5-S1.
There is evidence of post-operative changes within the C5-C6 disc with susceptibility artifacts (? discoidectomy). Ligamentum flavum hypertrophy is noted at the C6-C7 level.
Mild ligamentum flavum hypertrophy is also seen at the C4-C5 level.
IMPRESSION :
The MRI features are suggestive of mild posterior disc bulges at the L1-L2, L4-L5 and L5-S1 levels.
