Name of the Patient : Abc Xyz lmn / F / 43 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyz Pandya.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Cervical Spine.

CLINICAL PROFILE :

C/O neck pain with pain radiating to the LUE with paresthesias.

EXAMINATION :

M.R.I of the cervical spine was performed using the following parameters :

4 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.

5 mm thick T1 Weighted and Fast Scan (T2 *) axial images.

OBSERVATION :

There is slight retroplacement of the C4 vertebra over the C5 vertebra.

The C5 vertebral body is decreased in height. There are linear hypointensities on all the pulse sequences within this vertebral body and these may represent compressed trabeculae.

Posterior peridiscal osteophytes are seen to indent the thecal sac at the C4-C5 level. Also seen is an anterior disc herniation with peridiscal osteophytes at the C4-C5 level.

Small posterior disc bulges are seen at the C2-C3 and C3-C4 levels.

The cervical vertebral bodies show areas of fatty replacement of normal marrow (? osteoporotic changes).

The cervical intervertebral discs show loss of water content. The C4-C5 intervertebral disc shows a slight decrease in height.

The joints of Luschka and the visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.

The cervical spinal cord reveals normal signal intensity.

The atlanto-axial region and the cervico-medullary junction are unremarkable.

IMPRESSION :

The MRI features are suggestive of a compression fracture of the C5 vertebral body and this may be a result of trauma (less likely to be superimposed upon a pathologic process).

As compared to the previous MRI dated 00.00.00 the C5 vertebral body is decreased in height and is hypointense which may suggest sclerosis (healing process).
