Name of the Patient : Abc Xyz Thlmn / F / 65 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzwant.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Brain.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O left trigeminal neuralgia since 6 years.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the brain was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted, proton and T2 Weighted axial images.
5 mm thick FLAIR coronal images.
MR Cisternogram was obtained in the coronal plane.
Limited MRA was obtained using 3D TOF images in the axial plane.
OBSERVATION :
There is no focal area of altered signal intensity in the brain parenchyma.
Both the lateral, third and the fourth ventricles are normal. The basal cisternal spaces are unremarkable. There is slight prominence of the cerebral cortical sulci and cerebellar folia bilaterally. There is no shift of the midline structures.
The vertebro-basilar system is ectatic with a vascular loop indenting the root exit zone of the left seventh and eighth cranial nerve complex. Vascular twigs are also noted along the inferior margins of the trigeminal nerves on either side. There is however, no deformation of the root entry zone of the trigeminal nerves on either side.
Inflammatory changes are noted in the left maxillary antrum.
>
IMPRESSION :
1. No significant abnormality is detected within the brain parenchyma per se.
2. Ectasia of the vertebro-basilar system with a vascular loop indenting the root exit zone of the left seventh and eighth cranial nerve complex.
3. Vascular twigs along the inferior margins of the trigeminal nerves on either side without deforming the root entry zone of the trigeminal nerves on either side.
