Name of the Patient : Abc Xyzna S.lmn / F / 7 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzah.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Brain.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O deviation of the left eye ball and inability to close the left eye since November 0000.
H/O similar complaints in August 0000.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the brain was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted, proton and T2 Weighted axial images.
4 mm thick FLAIR coronal images.
3 mm thick Fast Scan (T2 *) coronal images.
3 mm thick T2 Weighted and 5 mm thick T1 Weighted sagittal images.
OBSERVATION :
There is seen an approximately 1.5 x 1.3 x 1.8 cms sized, popcorn shaped predominantly hyperintense lesion on the T1 Weighted images in the pons, posteriorly slightly more to the left of the midline. This lesion appears slightly more hyperintense on the proton, T2 Weighted and FLAIR images and shows a peripheral hypointense rim. The lesion blooms on the Fast Scan (T2 *) images. There is resultant slight effacement of the fourth ventricle. Linear hypointense signal on T1 Weighted images in the left cerebellar hemisphere which appears hyperintense on the proton and T2 Weighted images may represent a venous angioma/slow flow [scan nos. 105.4-5 104.4-5].
Both the lateral and third ventricles are normal. The basal cisternal spaces are unremarkable. There is no shift of the midline structures.
IMPRESSION :
An approximately 1.5 x 1.3 x 1.8 cms sized, popcorn shaped lesion in the pons, posteriorly slightly more to the left of the midline follows the signal characteristics of a cavernous angioma.
As compared to the previous MRI dated 00.00.0000 (study no.0000) there is no significant change in the size of the lesion (though all the previous films were not available for comparison).
