Name of the Patient : Abc XyzJlmn / F / 9 months.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzapadia.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Lumbo-sacral Spine.

CLINICAL PROFILE :

C/O myelomeningocele.

EXAMINATION :

M.R.I of the lumbo-sacral spine was performed using the following parameters :

3 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.

4 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted axial images.

3 mm thick T1 Weighted and Gradient coronal images.

OBSERVATION :

There is a soft tissue swelling seen over the low back.

There is an open sacral canal from the L5 to the S2-S3 level with tethering of the spinal cord at the L5-S1 level. A large intradural lesion is seen extending over the L4 to the S2 vertebral level and is seen to follow fat signal intensity characteristics on all the pulse sequences which represents an intradural lipoma and the cord is tethered to the lipoma.

The bladder is slightly distended.

The rest of the lumbar vertebral bodies and the intervertebral discs reveal normal signal intensity. The facet joints and the visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.

IMPRESSION :

The MRI features are suggestive of spinal dysraphism with an open sacral canal and intradural lipoma with tethering of the spinal cord at the L5-S1 level.
