Name of the Patient : Abc Xyzhinalmn / M / 59 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzs.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Cervical Spine.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O pain in the entire back, more on the left side.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the cervical spine was performed using the following parameters :
4 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and Fast Scan (T2 *) axial images.
OBSERVATION :
There is loss of water content of the cervical intervertebral discs.
There is slight retroplacement of the C4 over the C5 vertebra.
There are posteriorly herniated discs with posterior peridiscal osteophytes at the C3-C4, C4-C5, C5-C6 and C6-C7 levels, more to the left of the midline, with indentation on the dural theca anteriorly and left neural foraminal narrowing. The largest disc herniations are noted at the C4-C5 and C5-C6 levels. There is also ligamentum flavum hypertrophy at the C4-C5, C5-C6 and C6-C7 levels with a tight cervical canal at the C4-C5 and C5-C6 levels.
Degenerative changes of the joints of Luschka are noted at the C4-C5 and C5-C6 levels bilaterally. Facetal hypertrophy is noted in the cervical region maximum at the C4-C5 and C5-C6 levels.
The upper cervical vertebral bodies show spotty fatty marrow changes. The visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.
The cervical spinal cord reveals normal signal intensity.
The atlanto-axial region and the cervico-medullary junction are unremarkable.
IMPRESSION :
1. Posteriorly herniated discs with posterior peridiscal osteophytes, more to the left of the midline, at the C3-C4, C4-C5, C5-C6 and C6-C7 levels, the largest disc herniations being at the C4-C5 and C5-C6 levels with ligamentum flavum hypertrophy at the C4-C5, C5-C6 and C6-C7 levels with a tight cervical canal at the C4-C5 and C5-C6 levels.
2. Degenerative changes of the joints of Luschka at the C4-C5 and C5-C6 levels bilaterally and facetal hypertrophy in the cervical region maximum at the C4-C5 and C5-C6 levels.
