Name of the Patient : Abc Xyza S. lmn / F / 53 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyznna.
Examination : M.R.I. of Both Hips.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O pain in the right hip joint since 6 days.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of both hips was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and STIR coronal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted (with fat saturation) axial images.
5 mm thick Proton density sagittal images.
OBSERVATION :
There is sliver of fluid along the lateral aspect of the right gluteus medius muscle and the right greater trochanter which is hypointense on the T1 Weighted images and turns hyperintense on the T2 Weighted images. Subtle hyperintense signal is seen within the right gluteus medius muscle on the T2 Weighted and STIR images laterally. This is isointense to normal muscle on the T1 Weighted images.
The femoral head and the acetabulum reveal normal signal intensity bilaterally. There is no obvious bony destruction or erosions noted. The articular cartilages are unremarkable.
Small, nebothian cyst is noted. Small intramural fibroid is noted in the uterine myometrium, anteriorly.
IMPRESSION :
The MRI features are suggestive of fluid and altered signal along the lateral aspect of the right gluteus medius muscle and the greater trochanter and altered signal within the right gluteus medius muscle. These changes may represent ? inflammatory changes (is there a history of intramuscular injection).
