Name of the Patient : Abc Xyzulflmn / F / 10 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyz Shah.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Cervical Spine.

CLINICAL PROFILE :

C/O neck stiffness with restricted neck movements.

EXAMINATION :

M.R.I of the cervical spine was performed using the following parameters :

4 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.

5 mm thick T1 Weighted and Fast Scan (T2 *) axial images.

3 mm thick T2 Weighted coronal images (with fat saturation).

OBSERVATION :

There is partial occipitalization of the posterior arch of the atlas. There is atlanto-dens subluxation with the atlanto-dens interval measuring approximately 1.2 cms in the antero-posterior dimension. Invagination of the tip of the odontoid process through the foramen magnum is noted with indentation on the cervico-medullary junction (basilar invagination). The clivus is more horizontally placed.

The cervical vertebral bodies and the intervertebral discs show normal signal intensity. The joints of Luschka and the visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.

The cervical spinal cord reveals normal signal intensity.

Incidentally noted is a Thornwaldts cyst along the posterior pharyngeal wall.
