Name of the Patient : Abc Xyza N. lmn / F / 62 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzavsar.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Lumbo-sacral Spine.

CLINICAL PROFILE :

C/O backache with pain radiating to the RLE with paresthesias since 3-4 years.

EXAMINATION :

M.R.I of the lumbo-sacral spine was performed using the following parameters :

5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.

5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted axial images.

OBSERVATION :

There is scoliosis of the lumbar spine with convexity to the right. The lumbar intervertebral discs are reduced in height and show loss of water content.

Lateral peridiscal osteophytes with disc herniations are noted in the lumbar region.

Posteriorly bulging discs with posterior peridiscal osteophytes are noted in the lumbar region from the L1-L2 to L5-S1 levels indenting the dural theca anteriorly. There is hypertrophic facetal arthropathy on the right at the L4-L5 and l5-S1 levels with resultant lateral recess stenosis at these levels.

Type II degenerative marrow changes are noted adjacent to the L3-L4 and L4-L5 intervertebral discs.

The rest of the lumbar vertebral bodies show spotty fatty marrow changes.
>

Anterior disc herniations with peridiscal osteophytes are seen in the lumbar region.

The rest of the facet joints and the visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.

The conus medullaris terminates at the L2 level and the thecal sac terminates at the S2 level.

The antero-posterior dimensions of the lumbar canal at the level of the intervertebral discs are as follows :

14.0 mm at L1-L2
14.0 mm at L2-L3
12.0 mm at L3-L4
11.0 mm at L4-L5
11.0 mm at L5-S1.

IMPRESSION :

1. Scoliosis of the lumbar spine with convexity to the right.

2. Posteriorly bulging discs with posterior peridiscal osteophytes in the lumbar region from the L1-L2 to L5-S1 levels with hypertrophic facetal arthropathy on the right at the L4-L5 and L5-S1 levels with resultant lateral recess stenosis at these levels.
