Name of the Patient : Abc Xyz Indorelmn / M / 17 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzapadia.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Left Femur.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O pain around the left knee joint since 6 months.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I. of the left femur was performed using the following parameters :
10 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted axial images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and STIR sagittal images.
4 mm thick STIR coronal images.
4 mm thick Gradient axial images with fat saturation.
The site of pain has been marked with Vitamin E capsules.
OBSERVATION :
There is thickening of the medial cortex at the mid shaft level of the left femur, approximately 20 cms above the left knee joint. A small punctate hyperintense area is seen on the Gradient and T2 Weighted images within this cortex (se/im:106.7/8) which is slightly hypointense on the T1 Weighted images. This may represent a nidus. Hyperintense signal on the T2 Weighted and STIR images is seen within the marrow and probably represents edema (scans 103.12, 106.8, 107.4, 102.12).
The visualized soft tissues are unremarkable.
The visualized portion of the right thigh is normal.
IMPRESSION :
The MRI features are suggestive of a small punctate lesion with cortical thickening at the mid shaft level of the left femur and marrow edema and this most probably represents an osteoid osteoma.
