Name of the Patient : Abc Xyzh Glmn / M / 22 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzndya.
Examination : M.R.I. of the S. I. Joints.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O backache with pain radiating to the LLE since 10-12 years.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the S. I. joints was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted (with fat saturation) axial images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and STIR coronal images.
OBSERVATION :
Areas of hypointensity on the T1 Weighted images which turn hyperintense on the T2 Weighted and STIR images are seen within the sacral ala and iliac wings adjacent to both sacro-iliac joints. The margins of the sacro-iliac joints are ill-defined with erosions at the margins.
The visualized soft tissues are unremarkable.
The visualized musculature of the pelvis appears normal.
The lumbo-sacral spine was screened with 5 mm thick T1 Weighted sagittal images and which does not reveal any significant feature of note.
IMPRESSION :
The MRI features are suggestive of altered signal within the sacral ala and iliac wings with involvement of both sacro-iliac joints is not specific for a single etiology. This may represent
sacro-ilitis most likely inflammatory in etiology.
