Name of the Patient : Abc Xyzn Plmn / M / 14 months.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzshi.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Brain.

CLINICAL PROFILE :

C/O seizures at birth with delayed milestones.

EXAMINATION :

M.R.I of the brain was performed using the following parameters :

5 mm thick T1 Weighted, proton and T2 Weighted axial images.
3 mm thick T2 Weighted coronal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted sagittal images.

OBSERVATION :

There is volume loss in the right temporo-parietal region and the right frontal region.

Ill-defined, hyperintense signal on the proton and T2 Weighted images is noted in the cortex and in the subcortical white matter in the left occipital region, right temporo-parietal and frontal regions, the left posterior temporo-parietal region and in the right parietal region. These lesions appear iso to hypointense to normal white matter on the T1 Weighted images. There is resultant thinning of the posterior body and splenium of the corpus callosum.

There is mild fullness of the right lateral ventricle (ex-vacuo dilatation) as compared to the left. The third and the fourth ventricles are normal. The basal cisternal spaces are unremarkable. There is no shift of the midline structures. No obvious vascular anomaly is identified on this study.








IMPRESSION :

Altered signal in the cerebral hemispheres bilaterally with volume loss in the right temporo-parietal and right frontal regions and thinning of the posterior body and splenium of the corpus callosum as described most likely is the sequelae of a previous vascular insult. A hypoxic-ischemic insult should be considered as a likely etiology.
