Name of the Patient : Abc Xyz Glmn / F / 55 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzah.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Lumbo-sacral Spine.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O backache radiating to BLE (left more than right) with paresthesias.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the lumbo-sacral spine was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted axial images.
OBSERVATION :
There is loss of water content of the lumbar intervertebral discs.
Postero-central disc herniations with small peridiscal osteophytes are noted at the L3-L4 and L5-S1 levels, indenting the dural theca anteriorly.
Posteriorly bulging discs with peridiscal osteophytes are noted at the L2-L3 and L4-L5 levels with slight bilateral neural foraminal narrowing.
Bilateral far lateral (extraforaminal) disc bulges are noted at the L2-L3, L3-L4 and L4-L5 levels.
Slight facetal hypertrophy is noted in the lower lumbar region.
Schmorls nodes are noted in the lumbar region.
The lumbar vertebral bodies reveal normal signal intensity. The visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.
Marrow inhomogeneity is seen in the D10 vertebral body.
The conus medullaris terminates at the L1 level and the thecal sac terminates at the S2 level.
The antero-posterior dimensions of the lumbar canal at the level of the intervertebral discs are as follows :
12.0 mm at L1-L2
12.0 mm at L2-L3
9.0 mm at L3-L4
12.0 mm at L4-L5
9.0 mm at L5-S1.
Screening images of the cervico-dorsal region do not show any significant feature of note.
IMPRESSION :
1. Postero-central disc herniations with small peridiscal osteophytes at the L3-L4 and L5-S1 levels.
2. Posteriorly bulging discs with peridiscal osteophytes at the L2-L3 and L4-L5 levels.
3. Slight facetal hypertrophy in the lower lumbar region.
