Name of the Patient : Abc XyzDalmn / F / 15 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzah.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Brain.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O gait imbalance, diminished vision and slurred speech since 3-4 months.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the brain was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted, proton and T2 Weighted axial images.
5 mm thick FLAIR coronal images.
3 mm thick STIR coronal images through the optic nerves.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted sagittal images.
OBSERVATION :
There is prominence of the cerebellar folia bilaterally with mild dilatation of the fourth ventricle. No signal change is however noted. The inferior cerebellar vermis also appears hypoplastic.
The ventral pontine bulge and the olivary bulges are well-maintained.
There is no focal area of altered signal intensity in the brain parenchyma.
There is mild fullness of both the lateral and the third ventricles. The basal cisternal spaces are unremarkable. There is no shift of the midline structures. No obvious vascular anomaly is identified on this study.
The optic nerves show normal signal and calibre on either side.
Inflammatory changes are noted in the ethmoidal air cells bilaterally.
..2/.
IMPRESSION :
Cerebellar atrophy with a hypoplastic inferior cerebellar vermis and mild dilatation of the fourth ventricle.
