Name of the Patient : Abc Xyz Mahlmn / M / 41 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzni.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Dorso-lumbar Spine.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O backache with pain radiating to BLE (left more than right) since 4-5 years.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the dorso-lumbar spine was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted axial images.
The cervical spine was screened with 4 mm thick T2 Weighted sagittal images and the lumbar spine was screened with 5 mm thick T1 Weighted sagittal images.
OBSERVATION :
There is scoliosis of the spine in the dorso-lumbar region with convexity to the left.
There is anterior wedging of the D4, D5 and D6 vertebral bodies without any change in signal intensity.
The visualized dorso-lumbar intervertebral discs show loss of water content.
A small postero-central disc herniation is seen to indent the thecal sac at the L1-L2 level.
There is a postero-central disc protrusion with small peridiscal osteophytes at the D5-D6 level. This disc appears reduced in height. Posterior disc bulges with small peridiscal osteophytes are noted at the D4-D5 and D6-D7 levels.

The visualized dorso-lumbar vertebral bodies reveal normal signal intensity. The facet joints and the visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.
The visualized lower dorsal spinal cord reveals normal signal intensity.
The conus medullaris terminates at the L1 level.
IMPRESSION :
The MRI features are suggestive of :
1. A small postero-central disc herniation at the L1-L2 level.
2. A postero-central disc protrusion with small peridiscal osteophytes at the D5-D6 level.
3. Anterior wedging of the D4, D5 and D6 vertebral bodies without any change in signal intensity may be the sequelae of previous trauma.
