Name of the Patient : Abc Xylmn / F / 15 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzrelkar.
Examination : M.R.I. of Both Hips.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O pain in the joints of BLE since 6 months.
H/O vitritis of the left eye. On Steroids since 2-3 months.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of both hips was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and STIR coronal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted (with fat saturation) axial images.
5 mm thick Proton density sagittal images.
OBSERVATION :
There is loss of normal contour of the left femoral head. There is a well-marginated hypointense area on the T1 Weighted images in the head of the left femur. This lesion appears hyperintense on the T2 Weighted and STIR images and is delineated from the normal marrow by a hypointense rim on all the pulse sequences (representing the double line sign). The neck of the left femur shows a subtle hyperintense signal on the T2 Weighted and STIR images. The left acetabulum is unremarkable. A small left hip joint effusion is noted. The articular cartilages overlying the left femoral head is unremarkable.
The head of the right femur shows normal contour. There is a well-marginated hypointense area on the T1 Weighted images in the head of the right femur. This lesion appears hyperintense on the T2 Weighted and STIR images and is delineated from the normal marrow by a hypointense rim on all the pulse sequences (representing the double line sign). A fat signal intensity area is also noted within the above described area of altered signal. The right acetabulum is unremarkable. A small right hip joint effusion is noted. The articular cartilages overlying the right femoral head is unremarkable.

IMPRESSION :
1. Class C avascular necrosis of the left femoral head.
2. Class A and Class C avascular necrosis of the right femoral head.
