Name of the Patient : Abc Xyzlmn / F / 25 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzah.
Examination : M.R.I. of the S. I. Joints.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the S. I. joints was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted (with fat saturation) axial images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and STIR coronal images.
OBSERVATION :
Areas of hypointensity on the T1 Weighted images which turn hyperintense on the T2 Weighted and STIR images are seen to involve the iliac wing and sacral ala adjacent to the left sacro-iliac joint. Also seen is involvement of the left sacro-iliac joint per se with erosion of the adjacent cortical bone. There is slight extension of this pathologic process into the soft tissues anteriorly and medially (in relation to the left sacro-iliac joint).
The right sacro-iliac joint is unremarkable.
The uterus is bulky and the ovaries show multiple cysts.
IMPRESSION :
The MRI features are suggestive of altered signal involving the left sacro-iliac joint as described suggesting sacroilitis.
This most likely is of an infective/inflammatory etiology (? tuberculosis).
