Examination : M.R.I. of the Cervical Spine.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O neckpain with paresthesias in BUE.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the cervical spine was performed using the following parameters :
4 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and Fast Scan (T2 *) axial images.
OBSERVATION :
The cervical intervertebral discs except the C6-C7 disc show loss of water content.
There is a posterior and a large left postero-lateral disc herniation at the C5-C6 level with antero-lateral indentation of the spinal cord and neural foraminal narrowing on the left side. Mild indentation on the left C6 nerve root is noted. Small peridiscal osteophytes are also noted at this level.
Small posterior disc bulges are seen at the C3-C4 and C4-C5 levels with anterior indentation of the thecal sac.
The cervical vertebral bodies show normal signal intensity. The joints of Luschka and the visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.
The cervical spinal cord reveals normal signal intensity.
The atlanto-axial region and the cervico-medullary junction are unremarkable.
Note is made of subcentimeter lymph nodes in the deep cervical chain bilaterally.
IMPRESSION :
A posterior and a large left postero-lateral disc herniation with peridiscal osteophytes at the C5-C6 level with indentation upon the spinal cord and left C6 nerve root.
