Name of the Patient : Abc Xyzbhuraj lmn / M / 3 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzvdekar.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Brain.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O delayed milestones.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the brain was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted, proton and T2 Weighted axial images.
4 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted coronal images.
OBSERVATION :
Subtle hyperintense signal is seen on the proton, T2 Weighted and FLAIR images in the bilateral thalami. These are iso to hypointense to grey matter on the T1 Weighted images.
Hyperintense areas on the proton and T2 Weighted images in the periatrial deep white matter bilaterally would represent areas of terminal myelination.
There is slight prominence of the CSF space in the bifrontal region.
The myelination pattern is normal for the patients age.
Both the lateral, third and the fourth ventricles are normal. The basal cisternal spaces are unremarkable. There is no shift of the midline structures. No obvious vascular anomaly is identified on this study.
IMPRESSION :
The MRI features are suggestive of altered signal in the bilateral thalami and this is of undetermined etiology. Hypoxia/ischemic changes or metabolic disorders should be considered.
