Name of the Patient : Abc Xyz D. Slmn / M / 27 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzah.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Brain.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O involuntary movements of the lower jaw.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the brain was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted, proton and T2 Weighted axial images.
5 mm thick FLAIR and Fast Scan (T2 *) coronal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted sagittal images.
OBSERVATION :
There is a subtle, hyperintense signal on the T1 Weighted images in the globus pallidus bilaterally (best appreciated on the T1 Weighted sagittal images (se/im: 101.7, 101.13, 104.9). This signal appears isointense to normal grey matter on the proton, T2 Weighted and Fast Scan (T2 *) images. A prominent perivascular space is noted in the left fronto-parietal region.
There is mild fullness of both the lateral ventricles. The third and the fourth ventricles are normal. The basal cisternal spaces are unremarkable. There is no shift of the midline structures. No obvious vascular anomaly is identified on this study.
IMPRESSION :
Altered signal in the globus pallidus bilaterally is not specific for a single etiology. This signal change may suggest paramagnetic substance deposition/calcification.
Hepatolenticular degeneration should be ruled out.
