Name of the Patient : Abc Xyza P. Salmn / F / 29 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzenoy
Examination : M.R.I. of the Left Upper Arm.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O pain and swelling over the left arm since 1 1/2 years.
Alleged H/O fall prior to this.
H/O biopsy of the left upper arm done on 00.00.00.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the left upper arm was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and STIR sagittal images.
5 mm thick T2 Weighted (with fat saturation) coronal images.
7 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted (with fat saturation) axial images.
OBSERVATION :
There is seen a fairly large, ill-defined, mass lesion along the anterior, lateral and posterior margins of the middle third of the left humerus. This lesion is of intermediate signal on the T1 Weighted images and appears hyperintense on the T2 Weighted images. There is resultant displacement of the triceps brachii muscles, posteriorly and the brachialis and biceps brachii muscles anteriorly. The fat plane between the mass lesion and the lateral head of the triceps muscles and the brachialis muscle is not well-identified. The neurovascular bundle comprising of the profunda vessels and the radial nerve, over the extent of the mass lesion is not well-identified separately. The mass lesion abuts against the lateral margin of the humerus. There is however, no obvious bone destruction or marrow signal alteration noted. Laterally the lesion extends into the subcutaneous fat, with resultant stranding of the same. The supero-inferior extent of the lesion is about 12.0 cms.
IMPRESSION :
A fairly large, mass lesion along the anterior, lateral and posterior margins of the middle third of the left humerus with signal characteristics and extensions as described is not specific for a single etiology. A soft tissue sarcoma is a likely possibility.
