Name of the Patient : Abc Xyz Maklmn / F / 32 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzrankar.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Lumbo-sacral Spine.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O backache with pain radiating to BLE with tingling (occasional) since 15 days.
Past H/O fall with # of L2 vertebra in 0000.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the lumbo-sacral spine was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted axial images.
OBSERVATION :
There is compression fracture of the L2 vertebral body with break in the cortex antero-superiorly. Linear hypointense signal is seen on all the pulse sequences along the superior cortical endplate which would represent compressed trabeculae.
Postero-superior margin of the L2 vertebral body is seen to indent the thecal sac.
Anterior disc herniation is seen at the L1-L2 level.
A small, postero-central protruded disc is noted at the L5-S1 level.
The rest of the lumbar vertebral bodies and the intervertebral discs reveal normal signal intensity. The facet joints and the visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.

- 2 - Scan-00006
The conus medullaris terminates at the L1 level and the thecal sac terminates at the S1 level.
The antero-posterior dimensions of the lumbar canal at the level of the intervertebral discs are as follows :
10.0 mm at L1-L2
12.0 mm at L2-L3
12.0 mm at L3-L4
12.0 mm at L4-L5
12.0 mm at L5-S1.
IMPRESSION :
In a known C/O trauma, the MRI features are suggestive of old compression fracture of the L2 vertebral body as described. Indentation on the dural theca is noted by the postero-superior margin of the L2 body.
