Name of the Patient : Abc Xyzhan S. lmn / F / 38 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzdar.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Lumbo-sacral Spine.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O backache with pain radiating to BLE with paresthesias.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the lumbo-sacral spine was performed using the following parameters :
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted axial images.
OBSERVATION :
There is loss of water content of the L2-L3, L4-L5 and L5-S1 intervertebral discs.
There is a small, postero-central disc herniation at the L5-S1 level with slight facetal and ligamentum flavum hypertrophy at this level.
A postero-central and left postero-lateral disc herniation with peridiscal osteophytes is noted at the L4-L5 level with facetal and ligamentum flavum hypertrophy with canal stenosis.
A small, postero-central protruded disc is noted at the L2-L3 level and a minimal posterior disc bulge is noted at the L3-L4 level. A right far lateral disc bulge is seen at the L2-L3 level.
Facetal hypertrophy is also noted in the rest of the lumbar region with slight ligamentum flavum hypertrophy at the L3-L4 level.
- 2 - Scan-00007
Spotty fatty marrow changes are noted in the lumbar vertebrae
The remaining intervertebral discs reveal normal signal intensity. The visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.
The conus medullaris terminates at the L1 level and the thecal sac terminates at the S2 level.
The antero-posterior dimensions of the lumbar canal at the level of the intervertebral discs are as follows :
19.0 mm at L1-L2
20.0 mm at L2-L3
18.0 mm at L3-L4
11.0 mm at L4-L5
15.0 mm at L5-S1.
IMPRESSION :
1. A small, postero-central disc herniation at the L5-S1 level with slight facetal and ligamentum flavum hypertrophy at this level.
2. A postero-central and left postero-lateral disc herniation with peridiscal osteophytes at the L4-L5 level with facetal and ligamentum flavum hypertrophy with canal stenosis.
3. Facetal hypertrophy in the rest of the lumbar region with slight ligamentum flavum hypertrophy at the L3-L4 level.
