Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyznji.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Dorso-lumbar Spine.
CLINICAL PROFILE :
C/O backache.
EXAMINATION :
M.R.I of the dorso-lumbar spine was performed using the following parameters :
4 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted sagittal images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted axial images.
The lumbar spine was screened with 5 mm thick T1 Weighted sagittal images and the cervical spine was screened with 4 mm thick T2 Weighted sagittal images.
OBSERVATION :

There is a small left paracentral disc herniation indenting the thecal sac at the D11-D12 level.
The D11 vertebral body shows slight anterior wedging with a Schmorls node at its superior aspect.
The visualized dorso-lumbar intervertebral discs show loss of water content.
The visualized dorso-lumbar vertebral bodies and reveal normal signal intensity. The facet joints and the visualized pre and paravertebral soft tissues are unremarkable.
The visualized dorsal spinal cord reveals normal signal intensity.
The conus medullaris terminates at the L1 level.
A small right postero-lateral disc herniation is noted at the L4-L5 level with slight right neural foraminal narrowing. Also seen is a posteriorly bulging disc at the L3-L4 level.
IMPRESSION :
The MRI features are suggestive of :
